I was incredibly happy to be able to spend a few days in Nashville with my younger sister before I departed for Paris. Even after being there for just a few weeks, she was ready to show me around to some of her favorite shops, landmarks and restaurants. In between all of this shopping, sightseeing, and eating, we even got a chance to make an unfortunate attempt at line dancing. Next time, maybe that aspect of the trip will go better…
While I was there, we took one small day trip to the adorable little town of Franklin, Tennessee. We spent a few hours walking the main drag, wandering in and out of the shops. I was very excited by the local shops with artisan items. I picked up some lavender lip balm that I’ve been using non-stop since that weekend! For this little outing, I wore my favorite little star print skirt from Madewell, as well as a bandana in the same print. I would usually not be one to wear two items in the same print unless they were in a set. Even then, I’m more likely to switch it up to double the uses of each piece in the set. However, for this print, I was able to make an exception, because of a few ‘print rules’. When wearing more than one item of the same print, I would advise going with a quiet print in a neutral color. When you’ve got leopard on leopard, you’ve more than likely got a problem…. I would also say to have one piece be the main focus while the other is complimentary, so as not to overwhelm the look. Think of it like this: the skirt is the star, the bandana is a backup singer.
To finish off my look that day, I threw on a plain white tee, a little bohemian vest, and some little suede Chelsea boots.
So, what do you think of wearing multiple items in the same print?! Do you follow the similar guidelines, or do you go about it a little more freely? Keep reading for outfit details and where to shop the look!
