Winter in Munich

Spent a couple of wintery and cold days in Munich in February visiting a friend. I feel like I’m playing catch-up on my own adventures, but the reality of it is that there are too many pictures and so little time. Alas, it’s the downfall of having a camera attached to your arm. I guess the pros outweigh the cons in the long run though.

The Residence.

I went back to the Residence in Munich because I remembered loving it so much the first time I was there. Luckily my memory served me right and it was just as wonderful as the first time I’d been.

I love these little alleyways that lead somewhere, especially when that somewhere is a well lit scene.

Grand hall, great symmetry.

If you’re going to have your portrait done, you may as well frame it in a golden frame in a golden room.

Said “golden room”.

The church ceiling is sparse in terms of color, at least compared to other churches, but the engraving and way that the shadows fall completely make up for it.

Next stop was the BMW museum. Although I have little knowledge of cars or motorcycles and even lesser knowledge of their inner workings, it was still a cool thing to see. You guys know how much I like pretty things and this museum is abound with them.

This is an actual car from about the 60s (I think). It was marketed to small families who wanted to be mobile but might not have the money to buy a car. So I guess they decided to offer half of a car? That back window is actually where the kid would sit, with the rack for the luggage on the back.

Aside from going to the hoity-toity stuff like museums and palaces I also took the time to do what I do best, which is walk around and get lost.

Last but not least was a visit to Nymphenburg Palace, another place I had visited previously but wanted to revisit.

Craziest thing is that this is just a “summer palace”….

Munich was great, even if the public transport system was the most complicated of all places I’ve been in Europe. I went the wrong way a couple of times but it always worked out. Till next time!
