Basic Isn’t a Bad Word

In 2014 someone decided to make “basic” a bad word and associate it with things we all love: coffee (Frappucinos are like drinking dessert), comfortable shoes (lookin’ @ you Birkenstock), and those striped trapeze dresses that every single girl on the planet owns (thank you Brandy Melville for saturating the market on that one).

To me basic has never been a bad thing. When I started trying to build my wardrobe every single book would talk about investing in the basics first and then to start looking into trends after.

Halter tops are pretty much a staple in any summer wardrobe, especially for me. The good news is that I’ve matured past styling them with khaki bermuda shorts and plastic flip flops. Now I like to dress them up with a cute pair of jeans or shorts.

A super basic look can be a great thing. Petition to do away with the negative connotations of the word. Let’s all be basic together.
