Au Bonheur des Dames

I have always loved kimonos. My dad brought me one as a souvenir from a work trip to Taiwan when I was about 4 or 5. I acquired another one in high school from a teacher who happened to be moving across the world and needed to unload some stuff. I made one in junior year of high school as an art project, because why not?

POINT IS. When I saw there was a kimono exhibit at the Museum of Asiatic Arts here in Paris, I made it a point to go and visit. Scroll down to see some of my favorite kimonos and kimono inspired pieces. No captions needed, these photos only require eyes hungry for unparalleled beauty. Insane that someone MADE these.

  1. How does something like that come out of someone’s brain and become a real thing?! Amazing. I brought the kimono from Japan, but I was also in Taiwan on that trip, thus your memory of it being from Taiwan.
